At the “Runden Berg” in Bad Urach comprehensive funds support that this mountain was a important mastery- and hill settlement of the Alemanni in the Late Antiquity and in the early middle ages.

At the beginning of the 12th century, Urach was the residence of the Earl Egino I.

1265 Heinrich, Earl of Fürstenberg sold castle Hogen Urach to Ulrich, Earl of Wuerttemberg.

1442 to 1482 Urach was the residence of the Earl of Urach (Earl Eberhard im Barte)

Some ruins of caste Hohenurach from the 13th century are still conserved. In the 16th century the fort was torn down.

Since 1985, Bad Urach is a apporoved health resort.
